1970’s
  September 1970   Tonka Japan established.
  May 1971   Bandai Models established.
  July 1971   Popy established as specialist character toys manufacturer.
  October 1973   Mazinger Z toy wins the Grand Prix prize at the 4th International Trade Fair Toy Concours.
Super-alloy Mazinger Z

  1974   Super-alloy Mazinger Z is a big hit.
  December 1974   Bandai, Popy and Tonka Japan coordinate the industry's first-ever joint press newspaper advertising campaign.
  January 1975   Trademark and logo both changed, accompanying a coordinated worldwide sales effort by the nine firms within the Bandai Group.
  October 1975   Tie-up in the US with the firm, Monograms.
  August 1976   First exports of Jumbo Machine-der (like Mazinger Z) to Mattel of the US. Becomes a best-seller under the brand name "Shogun."
  November 1976   Popy factory at Mibu established.
  April 1977   Bandai (H.K.) Co., Ltd. established as overseas manufacturing base in Hong Kong.
      Hit the Mole game launched, becoming a huge hit the following year. Gained the Nikkei Hit Product award for 1977.
  September 1978   Bandai Publishing established.
      LSI Baseball launched, later becoming Bandai's first big electronic game success.
  October 1978   Bandai America Inc. established as local US sales/marketing operation.
  November 1979   B-AI Electronics and B-AI Mibu established.
      Candy-Candy Nurse's Bag becomes one of the biggest ever hit products in the girls' character toy segment.
